When thinking of Eden, the first thing that I thought of was a sense of calm and ease, something that I think a lot of people wish to obtain but can be hard to achieve in our fast-paced world. The beach has always been a place where I feel completely relaxed and at home, I associate it with winter days back along the Northumberland coast and wanted to create a piece that reflects the feeling of invigoration, freedom and calm that I always find when I go back there. To me, Eden is a combination of all the small, textural elements of somewhere ideal, soft piles of sand, the feeling of being warm when the weather around is cold and bitter, all these details lead to the sense of tranquillity and ease that I associate with Eden.
