In the unlikely event of a fire
By Rosa Stevens
Smoulder no more and put your spirit out.
Suffocate the blaze, don’t give her fuel.
Don’t use those words as kindling,
Burn your bitterness not the living room.
Spitefulness stings the skin.
Don’t give it life.
Follow the set procedure,
Leave all baggage at the door.
Don’t go in for another jab,
Or to save somebody.
Adulthood is the exit-sign.
